The recognition, assessment, and immediate on-site management of sports injuries are crucial to facilitate rehabilitation and to minimise further risk of harm to the athlete. This course is designed for coaches, instructors, teachers, supervisors, sports assistants, and volunteers, teaches the medical assessment and management of a wide variety of sports injuries. Importantly, participants will also know how to recognise when professional medical referral is warranted.
Upon successful completion of the course participants are presented with an Sports First Aid Certificate which is valid for two years.
Included in the training are the basic techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and the action to take in the event of choking for children. During the resuscitation training we use a ratio of 1:1 (1 manikin for each participant) this gives you the maximum hands-on practical training and affords the best hygiene standards.
The course requires 1 day to complete, including skills practice. While the main content of the course is general, each course is different in terms of learners, circumstance and requirements. There is no exam or assessment with this course but full participation is required to receive certification.
